The education in Colombia is divided into levels: preschool, elementary school, secondary school and superior education, The national entity in charge of coordinating the educational system is MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION, that represents the country in the 32 departments. Public education is free until the secondary school. Public Universities are not free but they are cheap. Private education is very expensive.
Articulation programmes:
In Cajicá , some 10th grade students begin technical study in the afternoon, three days a week after school. When they graduate from school, they can continue that technical career, so they will be prepared to work and so to improve the quality of life of their family.

4. Training for State Test
Before graduating, the students must do 180 hours of social work in the community.
Participation of the students
In every Colombian school, students have the right to elect one student ( El personero) who will represent them and defend their rights, propose activities, and help their classmates. Another student called "contralor" is also elected. His/her duty is to supervise the financial matters.
