“I leave the school at 1:30. I walk for 5 minutes and I got home. At this moment my free time begins” says Maira Nathaly Triana Leon,a graduated student from Rincon Santo School. Free time is a time for rest, to change the routine, for nonacademic activities, for doing activities we like. But, we always need some time after school for homework.
However, some teenagers don’t have a clear idea of what freetime is. They think that all the day long is free time. So, we want to make it clear here.
We can classify freetime in:
-Positive activities: In cajicá, young people from all schools can choose among several activities such as sports, musical instruments, dance… The cultural House offers many possibilities as well as the Sports Institute.
-Negative activities: unfortunately, some young people, who don´t go to school, use drugs, make part of gangs, spent too much time in the internet… waste time.
The neighborhood, the school, friends and the family, of course, influence on the use of free time.
In our neighborhood, Riogrande, there is a sports institutel, where children can learn some sports.
Nathaly says that it is very sad for her to see that, after school, many children don’t do anything but stay in the street. They don’t even do homeworks. They don’t take profit of the opportunities they have to become better people. It would give them the possibility of having a bettter future.
It would be nice to spend our free time with our parents, family or friends, going to the movies, having an ice cream, going camping, going to a party, playing and sharing, and using freedom properly.
